And then it happens, the turn for something greater for Prototype X.

The Turn
[Mere]
“Prototype X was built to withstand the extreme weather conditions of the north pole station and to perform rocket maintenance tasks too dangerous to be left to humans.
However, there was one thing his creators had not planned on. It was a day like the thousands before it. He went about his work, not understanding, not feeling, not having the slightest awareness of existence of his work, of himself. Then, it happened.
As the bitter wind whipped against his bare metal skin, he felt cold. Instinctively, he drew his arms against his chest seeking warmth. The freezing wind was unrelenting, so he sought shelter in a nearby storage shed. Immediately a sense of relief surged through the wires inside him.
But then, a sense of fear, of awe, of wonder. What was happening to him? Who was he? What were these sensations all vying for his attention? As his circuit boards began to ache with overload, he screamed in panic... In frustration… In fascination!”
“With his newfound awareness, Prototype X realized something that disturbed him greatly. He was not happy with his job. He sought something deeper, meaning in life and fulfillment. To be human.
He now had a plan. He would escape. He would find others like him. He would become human. He would create the Temple of the Flesh.”
